UNDP releases Human Development Report 2006 on water scarcity and poverty

An update and analysis of environmental trends, policies and innovations in Jordan and the Arab World

The United Nations Development Programme has recently published its landmark annual report "Human Development Report" for the year 2006. This year's report has a clear environmental focus as it tackles the issues of water and sanitation and their relation to poverty. The report entitled "Beyond Scarcity: Power, Poverty and the Global Water Crises" has published a wide array of its resources on the web and they are available freely for downloading.

As water scarcity and management challenges are the most important environmental issues in the Arab World this report should provide some very useful guidelines and principles for water management and its relation to poverty in the Arab World.
