I hope I will not end up writing a title similar to Gabriel Garcia Marquiz’s “One hundred Years of Solitude”. Of course no way can I even get close to a masterpiece by the great Colombian Nobel Laureate but my absence from updating this blog in the last 40 days, added to another month of absence in March causes a lot of concerns, at least to myself about the sustainability of this blog. I am not sure how many people check the blog on regular basis apart from the usual search methods but I am sure they would be disappointed with the lack of updating. The main cause of erosion in the credibility of any information system is lack of renewal in provision of information services. The main reason for the lack of updating was the fact that I have underwent a process of “restructuring’ of professional priorities and time management options. The role of this blog was one of the main components of this restructuring. This blog has been surviving on the available time I was able to allocate between numerous activities and responsibilities. The main purpose of my “restructuring” initiative was to reduce the number and amount of activities to a level that I can consider suitable for sustainability and creativity. I had disconnected myself from many socio-political activities I was engaged in and focused on environmental and sustainability issues. This included stopping my frequent writing and advocacy activities in political issues as well as putting more effort in quality control of my environmental work. During the past two months I have missed deadlines for the first time in my professional life. This is a main indication that priorities should be set again and focus should be restored. This blog is still an integral part of my “new structure” as it represents one of my main objectives of environmental information sharing and providing a tool for knowledge management and awareness. I think, after a lot of organization of priorities that I am now in a good position to resume sustainable updates in this blog and to provide the minimum acceptable level of quality and sustainability of information posted here. I hope this will be the last time that I spent a certain period in hibernation or solitude.
